My best-friend Lily and I are travel-nursing in WA. A few weeks ago, we had worked seven consecutive shifts and finally our long awaited days off had arrived. We drove two hours to the stunning Bremer Bay. We were exhausted and needed to be revitalised by sunshine, coffee, surf and delicious food. Read along to hear about our getaway to Bremer Bay!
Nestled within the historic walls of the Old Telegraph Station established in 1875, is a modern-thriving cafe. There are friendly staff serving up delicious coffee and exquisite meals. Whether lunching or brunching, this is the perfect spot to soak up some sun and relish in the atmosphere.
Even though neither of us are avid beer enthusiasts, we had a delightful experience at the Bremer Bay Brewing Company, savouring a delicious meal accompanied by refreshing hard lemonades. We ate alfresco style, on outdoor dining tables with boat tinnies serving as overhead roofs.
It's important to note, free-camping in Bremer Bay appears to be prohibited in most places and park rangers are around. A restless nights sleep in a questionable location left us fatigued, stiff and in need of a good cup of coffee. Friendly locals suggested "Orcas."
Situated next to Bremer Beach, was Orcas Coffee Van. Locals gathered on park-benches with their dogs and even the park ranger (we had the pleasure of meeting earlier) was getting his caffeine fix. Great coffee, just what we needed to fuel our next surf.
The coastline of Bremer Bay was absolutely stunning, whether you visit Blossom Beach, Native Dog Beach, Bremer Beach or Short Beach there will be squeaky white sand and turquoise waters. Our personal favourite turned out to be Back Beach, we had two really great surfs there and the beach all to ourselves (with some cool local dogs we met).
While exploring Back Beach, we did some beach-combing and ended up leaving with a collection of rubbish. The allure of these beaches is for everyone to enjoy, and preserving their natural beauty is crucial. Let's take responsibility for our environment by cleaning up our beaches and oceans. On a brighter note, we created a masterpiece from the collected rubbish.
Bremer Bay was the perfect spot to explore on our days off. A teeny-tiny town adorned with gorgeous beaches and welcoming people. Although not many food establishments, the ones they had were full of charm and served great food.
Happy Coasting!
